🚀 Section 5: Settings Guide – Logs

The Logs section helps you monitor how shipping rates are calculated by reviewing API requests made by your Shopify store to the ShipEZ app. It enables you to validate, troubleshoot, and optimize your shipping rules based on real-time responses.

🔍 5.1 Overview

This section lists all API requests with essential shipping-related information.

✅ Key Details Displayed
  • Destination Address (Compulsory): Location & destination zone (e.g., Domestic, International).
  • Requested Datetime (Compulsory): The exact time the request was made.
  • Duration (Compulsory): Time it took to process the request (in milliseconds).
  • Shipping Rate (Compulsory): Shipping rates applied during the request.
  • Action (Optional): View request details using the Detail link.
⚖️ 5.2 Features
➕ Add Filter

Purpose: Narrow down logs by time period to analyze specific API requests.

✅ How to Use:

  1. Click Add Filter in the top-left corner.
  2. Choose a Date Range to filter logs.
  3. The logs will refresh to show only requests within the selected period.

📅 Example: You want to check logs from January 5–10 to troubleshoot a customer complaint.

↳ Pagination

Purpose: View all log entries when the list is long.

✅ How to Use:

  • Use the left/right arrows at the bottom of the table to navigate pages.

📅 Example: Your store processed 200 shipping requests last week. Use pagination to browse through them.

📃 5.3 View Details

Clicking Detail lets you inspect individual API request data.

Purpose: Gain insight into rate calculation and debug issues.

✅ How to Use:

  1. Click the Detail link in the Action column.
  2. Review:
    • Request Info: Customer info, origin/destination address.
    • Rates Evaluated: All rate rules triggered.
    • Matched Rules: Rules that were successfully applied.
    • Errors (if any): Troubleshoot configuration issues.

📅 Example: A customer says no shipping rate was shown. You click Detail to verify if rules matched or failed.

  • Troubleshooting: Identify misconfigurations or missing rule logic.
  • Performance Monitoring: Measure how fast your shipping rules respond.
  • Data Validation: Ensure the shipping rates applied match your business rules.
💡 Pro Tips
  • Use logs frequently after creating new rules to make sure rates behave as expected.
  • Match the Shipping Rate Name in the log with your rule names to verify accuracy.
